TEMPORARY ITALIAN HERITAGE LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR
Program runs Saturdays 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (2.5 hours)
Location - St. Albert Adult Learning Center
Open to Internal and External Applicants
Our School Board is host to and celebrates diverse cultures and is comprised of dedicated staff committed to high quality education that inspires and promotes lifelong learning. The Board is currently seeking an Italian Heritage Language Instructor that has a passion for working in a school environment.
The Instructor will deliver quality programs, providing students with the opportunity to appreciate another culture and learn an additional language, other than English or French including cultural experiences, which may include field trips.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Sound knowledge of and appreciation for the Italian culture and customs
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies to ensure an active and engaging way of learning the language and culture
- An understanding of second language teaching methodology
- Approximately 2 years related experience with teaching languages and/or tutoring
- Fluent in oral and written Italian language
- Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to provide a safe learning environment for all learners
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent motivation, group dynamics and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to provide regular attendance
- Willingness to organize cultural field trips
REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Education and a member in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers is an asset
