Who We Are:
Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.
Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Guest Services Manager, the Gate Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the entrance gate function, including the supervision, scheduling, and delegation of work assignments to the Gate Hosts and Volunteer Hosts, while leading by example and providing outstanding customer service, and information to Park guests.
Responsibilities:
Program Development and Delivery
Provide excellent guest experience by warmly welcoming them to Heritage Park, inviting them to travel back in time and experience time frames from the 1860's – 1920's in early Western Canada
Lead by example while providing all training, mentorship, and coaching to Gate Host positions to foster and champion best-in-class guest experiences to all parkgoers
Delegate tasks and assign work as needed while communicating with the Guest Services Manager
Provide guests with ticket and/or membership services, explaining the benefits of membership upgrades
Share information regarding Heritage Park and daily activities, enhancing their visit by ensuring they are aware of Park events and offerings
Prepare weekly work schedules for Gate Hosts, arranging for emergency relief as required
Ensure that the entrance area, including the admissions building, is operated according to prescribed safety, security and cleanliness standards, ensuring that all gate areas are restocked and tidied before closing for the day
Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of various attendance records as required
Update the Daily Events Information Board as required (chalkboards)
Liaise with other departments to assist with tour group, school group, and event entry requirements
Ensure all radio calls for the gate are promptly and appropriately responded to
Assist with marketing research and ensure surveys are conducted and tabulate data as directed by the Marketing Department
Perform other duties as required

Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with Heritage Park's Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS), following safe work practices, reporting work-related incidents, injuries and hazards, participating in employer training, and adhering policies including the Code of Conduct and the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy
Actively support a positive work environment through creating an atmosphere of inclusion, engagement and fulfillment in line with Heritage Park values
Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people, collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity, sustainability, and a focus on long-term benefits for the organization and its stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
Completion of secondary school education is required; enrolment in or completion of post-secondary Education in tourism, public relations, or communications is an asset
Previous experience in customer service and leadership is an asset
Experience in conducting research is preferred
Public relations, supervisory and organizational skills are required
Fluency in a second language is an asset
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting
All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
Special Clothing and Equipment:
Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park; and
Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.
Special Working Conditions:
The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors, and
This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods during set-up, delivery and take-down.
Hours of Work:
The schedule varies based on time of year and park activities and includes holiday, evening, and weekend work
During the operating season, the Park is open 7 days a week
