We are seeking a Data Engineering Lead who is passionate about working closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to build an innovative platform for the future of computing. In this pivotal role, you will see a direct link between your contributions and the growth of the company, as well as user satisfaction. Work with top industry talent, access one of the richest datasets globally, leverage cutting-edge technology, and make a tangible difference to products and people's lives. We need a candidate who has extensive experience in data infrastructure and architecture, particularly in governance around company-wide data marts, security and privacy solutions, and full-stack analytical technologies. Key Responsibilities: Drive the vision for our data foundation and analytics, accelerating the development of cross-platform components across Instagram. Conceptualize and own data architecture for multiple large-scale projects, balancing design and operational cost-benefit tradeoffs. Enhance data logging efficacy and collaborate with data infrastructure to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Build robust relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to understand and fulfill data requirements. Establish and manage SLAs for all data sets under your purview. Develop a security model that adheres to privacy needs, ensuring safeguards are in place and data quality issues are addressed. Design and launch sophisticated data models and visualizations supporting various products and domains. Resolve challenging data integration problems using optimal ETL patterns and techniques while sourcing structured and unstructured data. Participate in optimizing existing production processes and enhancing complex code through advanced algorithms. Streamline pipeline, dashboard, and framework design to facilitate the development of data artifacts. Engage with product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities for impactful solutions. Mentor team members by providing and receiving actionable feedback. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field. 10+ years of experience in data warehousing. 10+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining custom ETL processes. 10+ years of experience with object-oriented programming languages. 10+ years of experience in schema design and dimensional data modeling. 10+ years of experience writing SQL statements. Experience in analyzing data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies. Proficiency in managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Technical Field, Computer Science, or Mathematics. Experience with MapReduce or MPP systems. Knowledge and practical application of Python. Experience working autonomously in global teams. Proven ability to influence product decisions with data insights.
