Your Opportunity:
The South Health Campus (SHC) is a full-service hospital that provides services to Calgary in high-need areas including Women's Health, NICU, Emergency, Surgery and Mental Health. The SHC is more than just a "hospital". It is a campus environment and includes inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health learning opportunities for the community. The campus also includes a YMCA and retail services. The Cardiac Inpatient (ACU 66), working collaboratively with all the clinical teams spread across the South Health Campus, is in the process of hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse. Our unit offers a unique opportunity to work with acute General Internal Medicine and Cardiology patients in a modern environment. The successful applicant must be prepared and willing to support all levels of learning professionals. The LPN is accountable to the public for his/her own practice and is responsible for ensuring that practice meets legislative requirements and practice standards set by The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) under the Health Professions ACT LPN Regulation PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this workplace expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 6 months experience on an acute care inpatient cardiology unit within the last 2 years is required or 1 year experience on an acute care adult medical unit within the last 2 years is required. The LPN will demonstrate an understanding and compliance with the AHS code of conduct. Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment skills and sound nursing judgement. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. High functioning time management and prioritization skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Acute Care Inpatient Cardiology preferred. Current telemetry certification preferred. PVAD & CVAD Certification preferred. Chest Tube management experience preferred. Working knowledge of Epic - Connect Care Inpatients. Experience with family centered care preferred. Collaborative practice approach and philosophy preferred. It's Your Move Training. N95 Fit Test - Current.
