Overview

The company's enterprise financial planning and analysis group serves as the critical support partner for Summit's senior leadership team. The team is responsible for the development and/or analysis of all strategic, financial, and operational aspects of the company's operating units and portfolio transformation. The Senior Analyst, FP&A will serve as a key member of the team in Denver, CO with high visibility to senior leadership. The primary responsibilities are to support the Director, FP&A and the senior leadership team in the development and analysis of the annual budget, strategic plan, and monthly forecasts, and provide reporting and analysis of monthly operating results for Summit consolidated and specifically the matrix functions. In order to succeed, this individual will utilize both relationship building and strong analytical skill sets to maintain current reporting and analytics, as well as develop new metrics as needed to support the Senior Leadership Teams, Board of Directors reviews and other internal teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

  1. Play a vital role in the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, providing guidance to the operating units and matrix functions on key metrics. Partner with enterprise matrix organizations including the functional impact on operating units and regions both operationally and financially.
  2. Support the annual budget and monthly forecasting processes with the FP&A team for the matrix organizations, including but not limited to, IT, Supply Chain, Procurement, IMO, Finance, Legal, HR, Strategy and Business Development. Support review meetings with each team to understand business commitments and investment needs to support the forecasting process and ensure loaded and validated forecast in Hyperion.
  3. Run key analytics to support complex financial models owned by the Enterprise FP&A team.
  4. Analyze variances of actual results against budgets and forecasts, identifying key drivers and providing actionable recommendations for both the enterprise matrix functions and the consolidated portfolio.
  5. Partner with Director of FP&A and Manager of FP&A on developing business cases for investment funding and supporting key milestone and status tracking, including but not limited to Centers of Excellence (COE) reporting and tracking.
  6. Prepare comprehensive financial reporting and analysis for senior leadership and other key stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to, Monthly Business Reviews, Senior Leadership Team meetings, various Steering Committee meetings, Quarterly earnings releases and Board of Directors meetings.
  7. Analyze Summit's actual and projected income statement, balance sheet, cash flow and capital spend on a monthly basis. Implement rigorous capital tracking and planning processes to include more regular reporting to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  8. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, highlighting trends and areas for improvement. Collaborate with key business and finance partners to improve financial forecast effectiveness and accuracy.
  9. Support the broader finance team and senior leadership team in ad-hoc projects and initiatives to address specific financial challenges and opportunities. Lead ad-hoc requests through data gathering, analytics and putting together a business case for review by key stakeholders.
