Job Overview

Happy at Home Support Services Inc. is seeking a motivated and compassionate Summer Student – Personal Support Assistant (PSA) to join our home care team for the summer term. This is an excellent opportunity for recent PSW graduates or Nursing students to gain meaningful, hands-on experience providing care in the community.

Position Details

· Employment Term: May 1 to August 31 (full term)

· Status: Full-time

· Incentive: $500 completion bonus upon successful completion of the full term

· Work Location: Client homes in Orillia and surrounding areas

Eligibility

This position is open to:

· Recent Personal Support Worker (PSW) graduates, or

· Registered Nurse (RN) / Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) students (Years 1–4)

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of our office and care coordination team, the Summer Student PSA will:

· Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:

o Personal hygiene and grooming

o Mobility and transfers (within training and care plan guidelines)

o Toileting and continence care

· Support clients with light housekeeping related to care (e.g., tidying care areas, meal preparation assistance)

· Provide companionship and emotional support to clients

· Follow individualized client care plans and report changes in client condition

· Accurately complete electronic charting and documentation using a mobile device

· Communicate professionally with clients, families, and office staff

· Travel between client homes as scheduled

Required Qualifications

· PSW diploma or enrollment in an RN/RPN program (Years 1–4)

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including:

o Days and/or evenings

o Weekends

· Valid driver's license with own reliable vehicle

· Possession of a cellular phone with unlimited data and ability to complete charting on the device

· Fluent verbal and written English

· Current First Aid and CPR certification

· Two work-related references

· Willingness to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check if selected for the position
