Job Title: Engineering Quality Manager

Company Overview

Electrovaya Inc. (NASDAQ: ELVA | TSX: ELVA) is a pioneering leader in the global energy transformation, dedicated to combating climate change by delivering safe, long-lasting lithium-ion batteries for heavy-duty electric vehicles, energy storage, and industrial applications. Leveraging our proprietary Infinity Battery Technology Platform and extensive IP portfolio, we design, develop, and manufacture advanced lithium-ion battery systems with industry-leading safety and longevity.

As we scale our operations and expand our product portfolio, Electrovaya is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Quality Manager to strengthen our development quality processes and ensure flawless execution during prototype builds and production transfers.

Position Overview

The Engineering Quality Manager is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring that all engineering-developed battery systems meet Electrovaya's stringent quality, safety, and reliability standards before they reach production or customer sites. This individual will establish and drive world-class development quality processes, govern the quality of prototype batteries, and lead cross-functional readiness during engineering-to-production transfer.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a passion for building scalable quality systems in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Development Quality Leadership

  2. Define, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Development Quality Framework covering concept, design, verification, validation, and pre-production stages.

  3. Drive establishment of requirements traceability, structured design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA quality rigor, test coverage completeness, and release readiness.
  4. Oversee defect management and ensure timely root-cause resolution and corrective actions during development.

  5. Prototype Quality Gatekeeper

  6. Act as the final quality authority for all engineering prototype batteries and systems shipped internally or externally.

  7. Establish prototype acceptance criteria, inspection procedures, and documentation standards.
  8. Review prototype build logs, deviations, and test data; authorize shipping only when quality thresholds are achieved.
  9. Lead structured post-prototype quality reviews to capture learning, identify recurring issues, and drive corrective actions.

  10. Production Transfer Ownership

  11. Serve as the engineering quality lead during NPI handover and production transfers.

  12. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure smooth and quality-first transition.
  13. Validate readiness of manufacturing documentation (BOM, build instructions, test plans, quality checklists).
  14. Lead pilot-run quality oversight, ensuring issues are captured, analyzed, and resolved before mass production.

  15. Cross-Functional Quality Collaboration

  16. Work closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, and manufacturing engineering teams to embed quality into every stage of product development.

  17. Interface with Operations and Customer Quality teams to ensure Voice of Customer (VoC) systematically informs design and validation.
  18. Support supplier quality activities related to engineering builds where necessary.

  19. Risk Management & Compliance

  20. Lead risk assessment activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, HARA, and safety reviews.

  21. Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as UL, IEC, ISO, UN38.3, automotive/industrial safety standards, and internal Electrovaya requirements.
  22. Monitor quality KPIs such as defect escape rate, first-pass yield during prototyping, and design validation performance.

  23. Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement

  24. Develop internal quality procedures, templates, checklists, and SOPs to enable consistent and scalable engineering quality processes.

  25. Leverage data analytics to identify quality trends, reliability issues, and improvement opportunities.
  26. Promote a culture of ownership, design-for-quality, and continuous improvement across engineering teams.

  27. Leadership & Team Development

  28. Lead and mentor the Engineering Quality team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.

  29. Provide coaching to design teams on best practices in quality, reliability engineering, validation planning, and risk analysis.
