WHAT'S THE TEAM LIKE

Our Airfield Operations team is dedicated to supporting every aspect of airport operations, with a strong emphasis on maintaining efficiency, effectiveness, and, most importantly, safety across the airfield. Each day, team members actively engage with airline and ground handling partners to discuss and implement operational initiatives and improvements. Collaboration is also a key component of their work, as they work alongside internal teams to support infrastructure development projects. Through these efforts, the team plays an essential role in ensuring that YYC provides world-class airport operations and continues to set high standards within the industry.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Ground Operations projects by helping track progress, organize action items, and keep teams updated to drive meaningful improvements across the airport.
  • Review and refresh key documents like standard operating procedures and airside plans to ensure they stay accurate, useful, and compliant.
  • Work closely with airline and ground handling partners to gather information, exchange feedback, and contribute to initiatives that enhance ramp safety and upgrade equipment.
  • Assist in planning and promoting air-side community events, including FOD Walks, by creating clear, engaging communications and materials.
  • Help prepare monthly safety reports, leadership presentations, and briefing decks for internal and external partners.
  • Conduct research and develop materials that support business cases for new safety and efficiency initiatives across ground operations.
  • Collaborate with teams like Infrastructure Development and Safety & Compliance on projects that shape day-to-day airside operations, gaining hands-on experience with cross-functional airport work.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • To qualify for a Summer Student position, you must be enrolled in a post‑secondary program preference to students in Project/Operations Management, Business Administration or Aviation, but any students interested in gaining experience in airport operations are encouraged to apply, Students must be returning to your studies after completing the summer work term and provide documentation confirming your continued enrollment.
  • You'll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don't worry – we'll help you through this For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information.
  • Demonstrates outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exhibits a strong inquisitive mindset and genuine curiosity.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET

  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for reports and documentation.
  • Comfort learning new digital tools and systems (incident tracking, asset management, etc.).
  • Data entry and analysis skills for monitoring trends and supporting projects.
