Shape Policy That Supports Ontario's Industry Sectors
Are you a strategic policy professional looking to influence legislation, regulations, and standards that guide Ontario's industry sectors? In this role, you will provide leadership, coordination, and expert advice to support the development of sector-wide policies and frameworks. You will work closely with program areas, partner ministries, agencies, and a broad range of external stakeholders to advance initiatives that reflect Ontario's economic and industry needs.
About the jobIn this role, you will:
- Lead policy projects, complex research, and long range strategy development
- Conduct environmental scans and monitor regional, national, and international trends to inform policy options
- Review and assess existing frameworks to ensure policies remain feasible, relevant, and
- Coordinate policy perspectives across ministries, agencies, and external partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Represent the ministry on inter ministerial and inter governmental committees, task forces, and consultations
- Provide authoritative policy advice, analysis, and recommendations to senior management and executives
- Prepare briefing materials, correspondence, and submissions for senior leadership, including the Deputy Minister and Minister
Policy and Sector Expertise
You have:
- Knowledge of legislation and policy development processes
- An understanding of industry sector, economic, and business issues
- Awareness of ministry policies, programs, and sector priorities
- The ability to assess policy proposals and evaluate environmental and economic impacts
You have:
- The ability to conduct research, environmental scans, and trend analysis
- Skills in evaluating policy options, identifying issues, and developing practical solutions
- The capacity to analyze complex submissions and support evidence-based recommendations
You have:
- Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
- The ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary projects and external consultants
- Skills in managing timelines, deliverables, and policy development processes
you have:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare briefings, submissions, and correspondence
- Effective negotiation, consultation, and presentation skills
- The ability to build relationships, manage diverse perspectives, and support consensus-building
