Duties
The Resource Conservation Team at Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area (NMCA) is looking for a highly motivated student with a strong interest in environmental science and natural resource management.Students will assist with fieldwork preparation and execution, data collection and management, equipment maintenance, and year-end reporting. The work requires sound knowledge and application of scientific principles/procedures and specialized skills in the collection, analysis and evaluation of natural resource data. While the general scope of the work is provided by the supervisor, this position requires personal initiative and a certain level of judgment in dealing with changing field conditions and scheduling activities. Potential projects include fish, bird, bat, amphibian and vegetation surveys, as well as remote recorder servicing.The successful candidate will be highly motivated, have strong wilderness travel skills, be able to conduct physically demanding field work in wetlands, forest, rugged coastline and aquatic environments, and must be comfortable working on boats or in challenging terrain through a variety of weather conditions.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to wear a uniform as per the Parks Canada Uniform Policy and personal safety equipment
Willingness to travel between various work sites and in inclement weather conditions
Willingness to work shift work, weekends, holidays, overtime and in various weather conditions
Willingness to handle wildlife, including live and deceased fish
Willingness to camp in the backcountry overnight
Possession of a valid class G1, G2 or G driver's license is preferred
