Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Rotary Wing
About Us Helicraft Aviation Ltd is a Transport Canada–approved AMO specializing in rotary-wing aircraft maintenance, heavy inspections, structural repairs, modifications, refinishing, and major scheduled overhauls. We support commercial helicopter operators across Canada and maintain strict compliance with CARs, manufacturer data, and internal quality standards. Our scope of work includes 100-hour, annual, phase, and 12-year inspections, component changes, structural repairs, major disassembly and reassembly projects, and complete aircraft paint and refinishing programs. The Opportunity
We are seeking an Apprentice AME who is serious about building a long-term career in rotary-wing maintenance within a structured AMO environment. This is not a general labour position. Apprentices are expected to be engaged, prepared, and committed to developing the discipline required to earn an AME license.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with scheduled inspections (100-hour, annual, phase, and 12-year inspections)
• Support heavy maintenance, structural disassembly, and component changes
• Participate in major inspection tear-down and reassembly projects
• Assist with aircraft preparation for refinishing and paint programs
• Interpret and work from maintenance manuals, IPCs, and approved data
• Perform basic troubleshooting under guidance
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately and legibly
• Maintain strict tool control and housekeeping standards
• Follow AMO procedures consistently and without exception Accuracy, documentation discipline, and attention to detail are essential
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of a Transport Canada–approved AME program
• Working toward M1 (Rotary Wing) license
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Professional communication skills
• Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality

Preferred
- Previous AMO or helicopter maintenance exposure
• Familiarity with Bell or Airbus platforms
• Exposure to heavy or major inspection environments
• Interest in full airframe restoration and refinishing projects
• Basic personal tool kit
