Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, experienced Welder Fitter who is a self-starter and capable of working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint reading skills, solid fabrication experience, and mechanical aptitude.

This role requires someone who takes ownership of their work, maintains high quality standards, and contributes to continuous improvement within the shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from detailed mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Fit, fabricate, and assemble structural steel and custom components
  • Perform MIG welding (TIG an asset) to high-quality standards
  • Ensure proper alignment, squareness, and dimensional accuracy
  • Operate shop equipment (band saw, ironworker, drill press, grinders, etc.)
  • Perform basic mechanical assembly when required
  • Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams
  • Identify process improvements and fabrication efficiencies

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a welder fitter
  • Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
  • Proficient in MIG welding (CWB certification an asset)
  • Solid understanding of fabrication tolerances and layout
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

Preferred (Assets)

  • Experience with custom fabrication
  • Experience working with heavy components
  • Overhead crane or forklift certification
  • CWB certification
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
