The Community Development Team Lead Assistant plays a key leadership support role within the Community Development team at Home and Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce (HCSS). This position is designed to provide enhanced guidance to team members, support volunteer engagement, and assist in the execution of strategic initiatives, including grant application writing. Reporting to the Community Development Manager, the Assistant will help ensure smooth daily operations, maintain high standards of volunteer and staff support, and contribute to the agency's public image and outreach efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide guidance and direction to Community Development team members in alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
-Support the Community Development Manager in maintaining appropriate staffing levels during absences due to illness, vacation, or other leaves.
-Assist with the orientation and training of new team members and volunteers.
-Participate in team meetings and daily huddles to ensure effective communication and coordination.
-Collaborate with the Community Development Manager on special fundraising projects and strategic initiatives.
-Responsible for researching, tracking, and maintaining awareness of all funding opportunities applicable to HCSS, and for preparing and submitting grant applications.
-Ensure volunteer records are accurate and up to date in GoldCare.
-Support the maintenance and enhancement of the HCSS website and social media presence.
-Assist in planning and implementing volunteer training and educational opportunities.
-Contribute to volunteer recognition efforts, especially during National Volunteer Month (April).
-Work with staff to enhance the overall volunteer experience and engagement.
-Represent HCSS at community events and outreach activities as needed.
SKILLS REQUIRED
-Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Proficiency in digital tools including social media platforms, website content management, and volunteer management systems (e.g., GoldCare).
-Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with attention to detail.
-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
-Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
-Post-secondary education in Community Development, Non-Profit Management, Communications, or a related field considered an asset.
-Minimum 2 years of experience in a community development, volunteer coordination, or leadership support role.
-Experience working in a non-profit or community-based organization is preferred.
-Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
-Knowledge of community development principles and volunteerism.
-Experience with group facilitation and training delivery.
-Familiarity with branding, marketing, and public engagement strategies.
-Commitment to the mission and values of HCSS Grey-Bruce.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $25.27 per hour
