À propos
The Intensive Care Unit at the Misericordia is comprised of 6 ICU and 4 High Intensity beds. We provide care for critically ill adult patients, admitted from the many services existing at our site as well as patients from surrounding rural communities. Our ICU has a broad focus on multisystem care as well as a specialty in supporting patients with neuromuscular conditions. The NP plays a critical role in supporting patient care, staff education and leading a variety of projects and initiatives. This is an opportunity to use the full Nurse Practitioner scope of practice, in a supportive and learning focused environment.
Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations or Program Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is employed in a variety of settings across the continuum of care including acute care and continuing care. The NP uses an evidence-informed holistic approach that emphasizes the nursing professions' values, expertise and education. The majority of time is spent in clinical practice where the NP role includes, but is not limited to, diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health and preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, medical devises and other therapies and performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments. The NP performs restricted activities within their scope of practice as defined by Schedule 24 of the Health Professions Act, the Registered Nurses Profession Regulations, and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). In some clinical settings, the NP is considered the most responsible provider. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUNP Collective Agreement.
