Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in Azure cloud data services, ETL development, and modern data engineering tools. This role requires deep hands-on experience building, optimizing, and supporting large-scale data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and ADLS
Develop ETL/ELT processes, data transformations, and orchestration workflows
Write efficient SQL for complex queries and performance tuning
Develop automation and scripts using Python, occasional development in Java
Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across the platform
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support reporting, analytics, and data products.
Required Skills
10+ year's experience in Data Engineering or related fields
Strong hands-on experience with:
Azure PaaS (ADF, Databricks, ADLS, Key Vault, Functions)
Databricks (PySpark) and ETL/ELT pipeline development
SQL (advanced query writing and optimization)
Python for scripting, automation, and data processing
Java for backend or custom data components
Experience with orchestration, version control, CI/CD, and production support

Salary and Other Compensation:
The hourly salary for this position is between $(123, ,000) depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
