Job Title – Senior Project Director – eHealth Modernization
Location – Edmonton, AB, Canada (Hybrid – Primarily Remote with Occasional Onsite Meetings)
Employment Type – Contract (March 23, 2026 – March 24, 2028)
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Project Director – eHealth Development to provide strategic portfolio leadership across Alberta's multi-year digital health modernization initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee complex, enterprise-scale health information technology programs, ensuring alignment across clinical, business, technical, and vendor workstreams while driving measurable outcomes across the provincial healthcare ecosystem.
This role plays a critical integration function between executive leadership, clinical stakeholders, IMT teams, shared services partners, and multi-vendor environments supporting Alberta's evolving eHealth landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Program Leadership
• Provide senior-level oversight across interdependent eHealth initiatives including CII/CPAR, Electronic Referral Solution (ERS), Provincial EMR Strategy & Integration, and EHR Viewer modernization.
• Develop and maintain coordinated portfolio roadmaps, dependency mapping, governance frameworks, and executive-level oversight structures.
• Ensure alignment of clinical workflows, interoperability standards, technical architecture, and policy direction across initiatives.
Strategic Development & Analysis
• Contribute to digital health policy direction, investment strategy, and long-term modernization planning.
• Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), contract language, SLAs, pricing models, and procurement artifacts.
• Guide interoperability design decisions ensuring clinical utility, data integrity, and adoption across health system partners.
Vendor & Contract Management
• Lead negotiation, development, and management of complex, multi-vendor IT solutions (>$500K contract accountability).
• Oversee vendor performance management, risk mitigation, compliance monitoring, and delivery outcomes.
• Escalate issues proactively and drive resolution to maintain program integrity and timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
• Engage clinicians, regulatory bodies, professional associations, and shared services partners.
• Facilitate executive steering committees, working groups, and multi-stakeholder forums.
• Prepare executive briefings, governance artifacts, risk reports, and portfolio performance updates.
• Ensure alignment with provincial enterprise architecture, IMT standards, and governance processes.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
• 10+ years leading negotiation, development, and management of complex, multi-vendor enterprise IT solutions with accountability exceeding $500,000 in contract value
• 10+ years senior leadership experience overseeing large, multi-year enterprise initiatives and health system portfolios
• 8+ years strategic planning experience within provincial or enterprise-scale health information technology environments
• 8+ years knowledge of clinical and technological aspects of primary health care systems
• 8+ years experience applying clinical concepts to enterprise clinical system planning, implementation, and evaluation
• 8+ years experience in portfolio governance and development of portfolio management processes for large healthcare initiatives
• 6+ years experience supporting clinical application integration and patient information exchange within Canadian eHealth environments
• 3+ years experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR
• 10+ years experience working with provincial health ministries, authorities, or public-sector health organizations
Preferred Skills
• Experience leading digital health modernization initiatives at a provincial or national scale
• Experience integrating EMR platforms and clinical document repositories
• Strong executive-level communication and governance reporting capabilities
• Experience working within Canadian public-sector procurement frameworks
• Knowledge of IMT enterprise architecture standards
