The opportunity:
The Senior Quality Engineer & Assurance professional will be accountable for defining, driving, and executing comprehensive test strategies across the W-A Investment Platform (Envestnet, Advent) and Advisor Applications (Advisor/Compliance Connect, Croesus). This position requires hands-on expertise in test planning, design, execution, and automation, as well as leadership skills to mentor junior testers and collaborate with development, product, and business teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents & provide feedback to the Business Analyst.
Conduct all types of testing for SAAS and internally developed applications (e.g., functional, regression, integrations, load, stress, performance).
Conduct quality assessments, creating test scenarios & scripts; contributing to testing plans for SIT.
Ensure that newly implemented system features, or enhancements meet user needs.
Participate in meetings, walkthrough, and presentations of new features as well as changes to existing functionality.
Partner closely with cross-functional teams—including Product, Development, and Business SMEs—to proactively identify quality risks, define acceptance criteria, and drive early defect detection
Collaborate with developers, business analysts and business SMEs to ensure test coverage aligns with requirements and client expectations.
Champion best practices in test automation, performance testing, and continuous integration to ensure scalable and reliable releases.
Drive test automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and increase release cycle speed and quality.
Develop and execute Test Automation Framework and Automated Test Cases.
Contribute to the integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines, ensuring tests run effectively and provide timely feedback.
Run and monitor automated tests within the CI/CD environment, analyzing results and identifying failures.
Support the roll out of enterprise-wide Quality Engineering and Assurance strategy. Contribute to process improvement and QE&A practice evolution by introducing innovative testing techniques and tooling.
Lead defect triage discussions, analyze root causes, and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Mentoring junior QE&A team members and contributing to the evolution of QE&A processes and frameworks.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
6 years software testing; experience in both, waterfall, and agile methodologies.
6+ years of hands-on experience in software testing and quality assurance, with at least 2+ years in a senior or lead QE&A role.
Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is a strong asset.
Must possess a solid foundation in systems testing and software QA best practices, methodologies, and techniques.
Certifications such as ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) or CMST is preferred.
Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman).
Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#) for test automation.
Proficiency in creating test scripts using the Behavioral Driven Development (BDD) using Cucumber Java or Cucumber JS.
Experience with Git.
Experience with Web applications, Data, APIs, Front and Back-end testing
Ability to write SQL queries for data validation.
Knowledge of API/REST testing, test frameworks, and tools such as Postman, Apache JMeter
Experience working on cloud-based data platforms and applications.
Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.
An excellent attention to detail.
Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong presentation, facilitation, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
An ability to work diligently and urgently on time sensitive matters.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and priorities.
Prior experience in the wealth management industry would be an asset.
Compensation & Benefits:
Range $93,000 - $123,000 annually.
This range represents Wellington-Altus's expected range of compensation for this position. Actual compensation will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. Compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
Wellington-Altus's total compensation package for employees may also include discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards. Wellington-Altus also offers health insurance, accident and life insurance, and other unique benefits per location.
