ABOUT THE POSITION
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating manufacturing projects in the nuclear energy sector, from early pre-sales engagement through engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and delivery. This role requires strong leadership in a regulated environment, with a focus on quality assurance, schedule adherence, and cost control. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are executed in compliance with nuclear industry standards, customer specifications, and Exco Energy's internal procedures.
This position has no direct reports; however, the Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating cross-functional project teams (typically 4-6 individuals). Responsibilities include planning, resource allocation, task direction, and performance coordination to ensure successful project outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Define, document, and clarify project scope, technical requirements, regulatory considerations, and cost and timing estimates for nuclear manufacturing projects.
· Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain) to develop and maintain integrated project schedules.
· Develop and manage department performance metrics.
· Conduct regular project review meetings, communicating progress, risks, quality issues, and mitigation actions; document and distribute meeting minutes and action items.
· Manage customer and internal change requests, ensuring scope, schedule, margin, and regulatory impacts are evaluated and approved.
· Review project proposals and contracts to establish project objectives, timelines, budgets, and execution strategies aligned with nuclear industry requirements.
· Analyze project financial performance, manage budgets, forecast cost-to-completion, and support timely invoicing and progress billing.
· Apply an understanding of revenue recognition, P&L, and project profitability to support sound business decisions.
· Develop, execute, and adjust detailed project work plans to respond to manufacturing constraints, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
· Oversee day-to-day project execution, including procurement of materials and coordination of manufacturing activities.
· Ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards (e.g., QA programs, documentation control, traceability, audits, and inspections).
· Prepare for and support internal and external quality audits, and regulatory inspections.
· Ensure all project documentation, including closeout packages and lessons learned, is completed, approved, and properly archived.
· Travel as required to support customers, suppliers, and project execution.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED/MANDATORY)
· Bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· project management experience in manufacturing, preferably within the nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated industries.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
· Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP systems, and project scheduling tools (MS Project, Gantt software).
· Experience developing and presenting reports.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism, ethical judgment, and confidentiality.
· Canadian citizen, permanent resident or hold an active work permit to work in Ontario (mandatory).
