The Role
In this role, you will contribute to structural engineering design and analysis, project coordination, site inspections, and the preparation of drawings, reports, and technical documentation. You will work closely with Senior Engineers and Project Managers while also delivering components of projects independently.
Your work will support feasibility studies, detailed engineering designs, rehabilitation and upgrade projects, and new hydroelectric developments across Canada and the USA.
Key Responsibilities
You can expect to take part in a wide variety of project work, including:
Contributing to the structural design of water‑retaining structures, hydroelectric facilities, and heavy civil works.
Performing engineering calculations, structural analysis, code reviews, and design assessments.
Preparing and reviewing technical deliverables including drawings, specifications, reports, and tender documents.
Participating in site inspections, condition assessments, and construction reviews.
Assisting in developing design concepts and preliminary engineering.
Supporting Construction Administration activities, including submittal reviews and responding to contractor inquiries.
Coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams including civil, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
Providing technical guidance to junior staff as needed.
Communicating progress, challenges, and technical considerations to senior team members and project managers.
Supporting proposal development and other business development efforts.
About You
We're looking for an applicant with strong technical skills and growing leadership capacity. Highlights include:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structural design (Master's degree an asset).
Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng.).
7–12 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
Experience with analysis, design, calculations, technical writing, and FEA tools.
Experience with water resource, hydroelectric, or heavy civil infrastructure (or strong interest in developing expertise in this area).
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Ability to periodically travel for site work, inspections, and project meetings.
Strong problem‑solving skills and proactive approach to project work.
Valid driver's license and ability/willingness to undergo security checks.
Location & Work Arrangement
This position is available in Mississauga, Winnipeg, or Vancouver. Remote or flexible work arrangements may be considered depending on the candidate and project needs.
Compensation
The expected salary range for candidates based in our Mississauga or Vancouver offices is $100,000 to $140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
