Cyber Preparedness for Leaders is an 80-hour hybrid leadership and capacity-building program designed for women-led small businesses and not-for-profit organizations across Western Canada. The program equips leaders with the knowledge, tools, and community support required to strengthen their organization's digital resilience.
The learning experience combines structured instruction, applied implementation, immersive cyber range simulations, and ongoing community engagement.
Note: We are currently building our Adjunct Instructor talent pool for potential contracts during the Academic Year. Hours are not guaranteed; you will only be contacted if a teaching opportunity becomes available.
Role
We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert and Facilitator to co-deliver this program in collaboration with SAIT's Product and Learning Design teams. This is not a purely technical training role. The facilitator will guide non-technical leaders through applied cybersecurity concepts, governance decisions, incident response leadership, and implementation planning. The successful candidate must be able to translate complex cybersecurity principles into accessible, leadership-focused learning experiences.
Time Commitment
80-hour program delivery across 10 weeks
Twice/week live sessions (virtual)
One in-person cyber range simulation session
Implementation support hours for participant support
Pre-program alignment meetings with Learning Design
Exact hours and compensation will be confirmed upon engagement.
Expected facilitation - End of May 2026 / early June 2026
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery
Facilitate live virtual training sessions and in-person cyber range simulation
Guide learners through applied exercises, tabletop simulations, and action planning workshops
Support development and refinement of the Cybersecurity Action Plan framework
Provide structured feedback on learner deliverables, including incident response plans and investment cases
Learning Support
Participate in office hours to support learner's implementation questions
Contribute expert insights during panel discussions and Q&A sessions
Reinforce leadership-focused messaging rather than deep technical configuration
Curriculum Input
Provide feedback on focus areas, examples, and case studies
Recommend real-world nonprofit and cybersecurity scenarios
Ensure content remains current with evolving threat landscapes
Community Engagement
Contribute to select sessions within the ongoing learning collective
Support psychologically safe and inclusive dialogue during peer discussions
Qualifications
Required Experience
7+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, risk management, or cyber governance
Demonstrated experience leading incident response or crisis management
Experience facilitating adult learning, workshops, or executive briefings
Preferred Experience
Experience translating technical risk into business language for boards or senior leadership
Experience working with small businesses, nonprofits, or mission-driven organizations
Familiarity with NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or equivalent governance frameworks
Experience conducting tabletop exercises or cyber simulations
Experience in community-based or equity-focused initiatives
Prior teaching or facilitation experience in post-secondary or professional education
Core Competencies
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts without losing rigor
Strong facilitation skills and ability to manage diverse cohorts
Skilled in guiding discussion, and facilitation skills
Comfortable leading simulation-based learning environments
High emotional intelligence and psychological safety awareness
Practical orientation with focus on implementation
