Job Details
Position Title: Senior Accessible Learning Coordinator
Status: FT Support
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL)
Campus/Location: This is a fully on-site position. Primary location is North Campus (4 days at the North Campus,1 day at the Lakeshore Campus)
Salary: FT Support Pay band J
Salary Range: $ $50.39
Starting Salary: $43.61; Progression through the pay band is in accordance with the increments in the pay band as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the pay band.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM *A compressed four-day work week may be considered, subject to operational needs. (4 days 8:30 AM - 6:30 AM)
About the Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) Department at Humber:
The Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) department adopts a collaborative, socio-ecological approach to student development and well-being. Our cross-functional team offers comprehensive support through Student Connection and Community Care, Residence Life and Education, and Student Wellbeing services (Accessible Learning Services, Mental Health and Counselling, Wellness Education and Programs, and the Health Centre). SWEL provides pan-College services at all Humber Polytechnic and University of Guelph-Humber campuses through our Student Wellness and Accessibility Centres (SWAC), ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment.
About The Senior Accessible Learning Coordinator Role
The Accessible Learning Services department is guided by the social model of disability, which focuses on removing physical, social, and attitudinal barriers in the learning environment. It prioritizes learner-centered approaches and promotes inclusive, collaborative spaces where all students, especially those with disabilities, are empowered to participate fully. The department actively works to reduce barriers, ensure clear communication, and facilitate equitable access to services. Through this model, the department fosters a proactive and empowering relationship with students, advocating for an inclusive educational experience.
The Senior Accessible Learning Coordinator (SALC) supports learners navigating transitions to and from postsecondary education, managing accommodation and funding processes, and coordinating third-party accommodations. As the functional lead for the Accessible Learning Coordinator team, the SALC ensures excellence in service delivery, data management, and system administration.
This role collaborates closely with the Associate Director and the Service Design to advance the department's service design efforts, championing innovative practices in accessibility and inclusion. Key responsibilities include overseeing data and analytics to generate actionable insights, producing regular and Ministry-mandated reports, and maintaining critical systems such as departmental scheduling tools and databases.
Additionally, the SALC fosters cross-functional collaboration, provides mentorship to team members, and drives strategic improvements that enhance accessibility and learner success, aligning with the institution's commitment to equity and excellence.
Specific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
Delivering direct support to learners through intake interviews, interim accommodations, funding navigation, and coordination of third-party supports.
Providing functional leadership to the Accessible Learning Coordinator team by mentoring staff, fostering team development, and supporting consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Advancing service and student experience design efforts by co-creating solutions with students and colleagues, researching best practices, and contributing to department-wide service innovation.
Overseeing departmental data and analytics to inform strategic planning, prepare monthly and Ministry-mandated reports, and monitor service utilization and satisfaction.
Maintaining and optimizing operational systems and tools (e.g., Clockwork, Accommodate), ensuring data integrity, supporting system updates, and training staff in their use.
Supporting team operations by coordinating schedules, maintaining vacation calendars, and organizing team meetings and in-service training opportunities
As part of a diverse, cross-functional portfolio team, the incumbent will contribute to fostering a learner-centered, evidence-informed culture by:
Facilitating a Learning-Centered Environment: designing and delivering programs and services that prioritize student learning, growth, and development.
Ensuring that our services and initiatives align with pedagogical best practices and support student success.
Community Engagement and Building: actively engaging with students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to build a vibrant and inclusive campus community. Creating opportunities for collaboration, dialogue, and shared learning experiences.
Data Collection and Analysis: collecting, organizing, and analyzing service user data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making and enhance the quality of our student affairs services.
Evidence-Informed Decision-Making: using evidence-based research and best practices to guide our strategies and initiatives. Regularly assessing the effectiveness of our programs and services, making data-informed adjustments as necessary.
Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: contributing to a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, and ensures that all students feel supported and included. Implementing initiatives that promote a welcoming and inclusive campus environment.
Collaborative Cross-Functional Work: collaborating with team members from diverse functional areas to achieve common goals and create a holistic student experience. Sharing knowledge and best practices across the student affairs team to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Professional Development and Learning: Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest trends and innovations in student affairs. Encouraging and supporting the growth and development of team members.
Communication and Reporting: Regularly communicating the impact and outcomes of our initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. Preparing reports and presenting findings that demonstrate the value of our contributions to the institution.
Student-Centered Innovation: Encouraging and participating in the development of innovative solutions and services that directly benefit students and enhance their educational experience.
Ethical and Responsible Service Delivery: Upholding the highest ethical standards in our work and ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and student data.

Education
The successful candidate will possess a 3-year diploma / degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Disability Studies, Psychology, Social Work or other related field. Change Management Certification (e.g., Prosci) and/or Service Design Certification also required.
Experience/Skills
Minimum of five years full-time experience working with adults with disabilities in a community organization, educational institution, or healthcare setting; as well as a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the Accessible Learning Coordinator role or an equivalent position, demonstrating expertise in supporting learners with disabilities, coordinating third-party accommodations, managing funding applications, and maintaining compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., AODA, OHRC).
Experience in leading functional teams, providing mentorship, and fostering professional growth within a department.
Demonstrated experience in service design and change management, including applying Human-Centered Design principles to improve service delivery and learner outcomes.
Proven ability to manage and analyze departmental data, reporting, and analytics, including preparing Ministry-mandated reports and leveraging insights for strategic improvements.
System administration experience with departmental scheduling tools and databases, including maintaining data accuracy, ensuring efficient workflows, and implementing system upgrades.
Demonstrated understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Advanced knowledge of software packages and student information systems (e.g., Clockwork, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, Banner and Destiny One) with the ability to train and support team members in use.
Demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating with stakeholders on interventions as they relate to learning, academic, and transition success.
Strong relationship building skills with proven ability to establish and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and make accurate referrals.
Ability to work cooperatively and independently within an interdisciplinary team, complemented by the ability to exercise independent judgement and ethical decision-making with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated project management skills (e.g., time management and planning) with experience managing multiple projects within a budget.
Possess tact, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and sensitive information.
Ability to balance interruptions, multiple and varied tasks, and confidential information with discretion.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with strong customer service/conflict resolution skills and ability to communicate effectively with learners, faculty and staff.
Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of diverse learners, staff and college community.
Proven ability to analyze and interpret assessment and benchmarking data to inform practice.
