MAKING AN IMPACT
The Research Engagement Coordinator works collaboratively with CCS Research team members, other CCS staff and community members (including researchers, people with lived experience, and research partners) to help execute impactful cancer research funding. Reporting to the Manager, Research Partnerships & Engagement, the Research Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating key research engagement activities. They will also support research mobilization and evaluation within research funding necessary for maximizing impact and success of our research funding programs.
Key responsibilities include: onboarding new patient, public and research partners to engage in research funding; supporting engagement in research funding review; promoting research engagement; supporting research knowledge mobilization and evaluation within research funding; working collaboratively with the Research team and across CCS.
What You'll Be Doing
Coordinate research engagement within research funding operations
With guidance and oversight from the Manager, Research Partnerships and Engagement, support the interview and onboarding process for new patient, public and research partners in research funding using a readiness framework and past experiences, grasping the essence of complex or subtle cues to anticipate outcomes and guide decisions
Support engagement in research funding review and panels (i.e., PSC panel orientations, administration, troubleshooting and logistics for PSCs, support with COI and reviewer assignments including creating profiles for new reviewers in the grants management system, supporting panel meetings for PSCs and supporting drop-ins leading up to panel meetings)
Working collaboratively with relevant members of the research team, support the development of research engagement tools and templates (i.e., PSC training resources)
Develop and coordinate communication specific to engagement in research funding for patient partners, researchers, staff, and the public via email, on social media and on , in collaboration with CCS Research team members
Promote research engagement initiatives internally (i.e., Cancer Control, StoryCentre, CCS newsletter)
With Manager oversight, process compensation requests for patient partners, speakers, and others engaging in research funding activities in a timely manner
Using a health equity lens, identify and build relationships and partnerships with diverse patient, public, and research partners
Support research knowledge mobilization and evaluation for impact in research funding
Help coordinate research knowledge mobilization activities within research funding (i.e., support lab tours and showcases)
Support the engagement of the patient, public and research community in our research knowledge mobilization activities (i.e., administrative support during research webinars)
Provide input on metrics, surveys and other evaluation of our research funding, with an eye to assessing and improving research engagement
Support Research team and cross-CCS collaboration
Support Research staff in grant administration, monitoring and evaluation as needed (i.e., support administrative review of grants and review of PSC reviewer comments post-panel)
Be a relentless advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion and bring a commitment to Indigenous Reconciliation in research
Support cross-CCS collaborations (i.e., provide Research input on CCS working groups)

Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in a related (health or social sciences) field is required
At least 1 year of some practical or related experience is required
Health-related education (oncology preferred)
Previous engagement experience, preferably in health research settings
Experience embedding equity, diversity and inclusivity within research or programs
Experience building meaningful relationships with people, specifically underserved communities
Knowledge mobilization, learning and development, or similar experience
Coordination of complex projects and people with differing perspectives / needs in a time-sensitive environment
Trauma-informed training is an asset
Established organization skills coordinating multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Demonstrate concern for all areas of tasks, and consistently check work for accuracy
Strong content creation and communication skills – creating accessible content for impactful research engagement
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Bilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred, with French being an asset due to the organization's nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions
