Our bustling logistics hub in Los Angeles, California, is seeking an experienced Shipping Clerk to manage our outbound operations. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately processed, documented, and prepared for timely delivery. You will work closely with our warehouse team to maintain efficient workflows and uphold our commitment to customer satisfaction. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a deep understanding of shipping procedures and regulations within the logistics industry. Responsibilities:
- Process all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in product count and destination.
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation, including bills of lading and customs forms where applicable.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Verify that all items are correctly packed and secured for transit.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the warehouse management system (WMS) accordingly.
- Communicate with internal departments and external customers regarding shipping status and inquiries.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct regular audits of shipping areas to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counts as needed.
- Identify and report any shipping discrepancies or issues to management promptly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar shipping/receiving role within logistics.
- Proficiency with shipping software and common carrier platforms (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS).
- Strong understanding of shipping regulations, documentation requirements, and best practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Willingness to wear required PPE, such as safety glasses and gloves.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is beneficial.
