We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator for our facility in Washington, D.C. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our warehouse. Your role is crucial to maintaining the flow of goods in our logistics operations, ensuring timely loading and unloading of trucks, and accurate placement of inventory. You will operate various types of forklifts, including reach trucks and order pickers, to transport items to and from storage locations, production areas, and shipping docks. A thorough understanding of warehouse safety protocols, proper load handling techniques, and equipment operation is paramount. You will also be responsible for performing pre-shift inspections on equipment, reporting any defects, and maintaining a clean work area. Adherence to all company safety standards and the mandatory use of appropriate PPE are critical. The ideal candidate will have a valid forklift certification, a proven safety record, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic warehouse environment. Experience with WMS and RF scanning is highly advantageous. This position requires physical stamina, good spatial awareness, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve operational goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate various types of forklifts and warehouse equipment.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on forklifts.
- Follow all safety regulations and utilize required PPE.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with stock placement.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a forklift operator.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and material handling procedures.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with WMS and RF scanning is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
