Customs and Border Protection Officer Job Description

As a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the nation's borders by enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws. You will be responsible for facilitating legitimate trade and travel while preventing illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce Laws: Detain suspected violators of federal laws using proper law enforcement methods.

  • Conduct Inspections: Examine cargo/bags/merchandise to determine admissibility into the United States.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential threats by utilizing intelligence techniques to make informed decisions on violations of laws or threats to national security.
