Your Impact Starts Here — As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Calgary or Edmonton, you'll shape the future of infrastructure, resource development, and climate‑resilient communities across Alberta. You'll apply your expertise to technically challenging geotechnical projects, from foundations and slope stability to tailings, permafrost, and renewable energy work — making a real impact across the province.
Your Impact
- Lead, design, and deliver geotechnical investigations that support safe, sustainable foundations and infrastructure throughout Alberta.
- Interpret field and laboratory data, apply engineering judgment, and develop high‑quality technical reports that influence major project decisions.
- Manage projects of varying scale and complexity, ensuring technical excellence, on‑time delivery, and strong client service.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior and intermediate engineers, contributing to a strong, future‑ready Ground Engineering team.
- Conduct advanced geotechnical analyses and modelling for foundations, slopes, dams, tailings, permafrost, and other geotechnical designs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and national WSP experts, leveraging insights from Principal Engineers and Technical Directors.
- Participate in construction oversight, site assessments, and investigations under diverse terrain and environmental conditions.
- Continue your professional development through training, technical learning, and exposure to complex geotechnical projects.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- A bachelor's degree in civil (Geotechnical) or Geological Engineering is a requirement and a postgraduate degree (MSc/PhD) in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering is an asset.
- A Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA.
- 10+ years of practical geotechnical engineering experience, including investigation, analysis, and design.
- Experience delivering projects in consulting environments with accountability for clients, budgets, and technical outcomes.
- Proficiency with geotechnical modelling tools, such as Slope/W, Seep/W, FLAC, LPile, GRLWEAP, Settle 3D, GTilt , Global Mapper and a continuous‑learning mindset.
- A passion for mentoring others and strengthening team capability.
- A valid, unrestricted Class 5 Alberta driver's license.

Compensation:
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 – $138,000
- MB & ON: $95,000 – $130,800
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $94,100 – $124,900
