About the role:
At Compass ELC Minden, we are looking for excited, passionate, and dedicated Registered Early Childhood Educators who will help build the culture and environments within this new program. As an RECE, you will spend your time engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. You will work alongside the infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms. You are passionate about early learning and care, play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in your efforts to create learning opportunities, build connections, and engage with children and families.
These roles will work within the infant, toddler, and preschool rooms for 35 to 40 hours per week. Hours will be based on program needs and funding. Shift start and end times will fluctuate within the team and will fall within the program hours of 7 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
Some accountabilities associated with the role include:
- Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children's unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
- Documenting children's learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
- Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
- Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
- Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
- Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
- Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
- Assist with housekeeping duties within the program.
- Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
Requirements:
- 1-3 years' experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
- Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
- Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
