The Role

As a result of our robust growth we are seeking Net Loft Worker to join our team. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor.

The Net Loft Worker is responsible for the repair, alteration, maintenance, and storage of aquaculture nets to ensure they remain in optimal condition and maximize their lifespan and value. This is a labour‑intensive role requiring physical endurance, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair, maintain, and store nets according to company standards. 
  • Measure net depth and stretches to specifications. 
  • Inspect nets for holes, rope breaks, and other damage. 
  • Perform required repairs including fixing holes, rope breaks, splicing, sewing, and related tasks. 
  • Occasionally operate overhead cranes and/or forklifts to move nets (certification/competency required). 
  • Take direction from Supervisor and/or Quality Assurance on work assignments. 
  • Adhere to all repair standards, SOPs, and quality requirements. 
  • Handle nets safely to preserve quality and reduce wear. 
  • Ensure tools are properly stored in designated locations. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment. 
  • Promote and follow all Health & Safety, biosecurity, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily operational needs. 
  • Perform other related duties as required, including yard work or additional operational tasks. 

Employment Requirements:

  • Experience in netting repair is considered an asset; on the job training will be provided. 
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods. 
  • Strong hands and shoulders with good hand/eye coordination. 
  • High level of attention to detail and good judgment. 
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and willingness to learn. 
  • Ability to use knives, scissors, and repair tools safely. 
  • Ability to measure, cut, and sew tarps or net materials to various specifications. 
  • Ability to work in an organized and efficient manner to meet operational goals. 
  • Respectful of biosecurity and Health & Safety protocols. 
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite. 

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment may vary and can include cold, wet, warm, dry, and production floor conditions. 
  • 12 hour continental shift rotations (3 shifts on / 2 shifts off / 2 shifts on / 3 shifts off). 
  • Flexible availability, including additional hours or overtime as required. 
  • Some heavy lifting, pulling, or handling of materials may be required. 
  • Repetitive hand motions. 
  • Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
