Supreme Steel is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist who truly knows steel.  Operating out of our Acheson or Saskatoon facility, this position is the heartbeat of our projects – from the first forecast to the final delivery of fabricated steel on-site.  Your team doesn't just manage vendors; they are ensuring the structural integrity of our project timelines, contributing to corporate culture in a positive way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Orchestration: As a team, you own the full lifecycle of our materials.  You collaborate sourcing, forecasting, procurement, logistics and receipt, ensuring seamless delivery to the customer.
  • Strategic Oversight: Maintain and evolve supply chain policies and procedures that drive efficiency and scale, showcasing your talent for organizational excellence.
  • Supplier Partnership: Move beyond transactional buying.  Your team prides itself on continuously improving internal and supplier programs, fostering high-value, long-term vendor relationships.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively assess global and local supply chain risks, building "Plan B" and "Plan C" contingencies to keep our projects moving regardless of market volatility.
  • Project Integration: Act as a key stakeholder in project planning.  You ensure material acquisition timelines align perfectly with complex construction and fabrication schedules.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Steel Mastery: Proven experience in strategic sourcing within the Canadian industrial landscape of steel fabrication is preferred along with technical knowledge of steel grades and fabrication processes.
  • Credentials: Education is important but a solid background as a steel solutions Estimator, project coordinator or a Buyer will also be strongly considered. Certifications or designations such as SCMP are considered an asset.
  • Negotiation Prowess: Superior organizational and analytical skills for demand forecasting and a "firm but fair" approach to high-stakes negotiations.
  • Strategic Agility: The ability to pivot quickly when conditions change without losing sight of the long-term budget or delivery goals.
  • Cross-Functional Bridge-Builder: A problem solver with a great attitude, you speak the language of both the shop floor and the boardroom, ensuring an integrated effort across the whole organization

Supreme Steel offers a competitive salary, a benefit package after three months and a self-directed RRSP program after one year.  This office-based position could have flexible hybrid work options considered.
