The Transfer Facility Labourer will perform general assignments including but not limited to the upkeep, operation and maintenance of the Transfer Station. The labourer will perform outdoor activities and assist the public as required to ensure proper and authorized utilization of the facility. They will perform related work as required.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid "G" Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Working knowledge of hand and power tools such as hammer, drill, saw, wrenches, sockets etc, preferred.
- Experience using and safe operation of equipment for brushing and tree-trimming, lawn maintenance and grass cutting equipment, and small tools preferred.
- Chainsaw certification considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, co-workers, members of the public and other partners in service.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry 50 lbs. frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and or walk for long periods of time. Ability and willingness to work in varying climate conditions.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Follows departmental operating policy and procedures, and provincial regulations regarding health, safety and work practices.
- Works independently and proactively to ensure work is processed quickly and efficiently and that deadlines are met.
- Must be able to be available for overtime and call-ins.
- This position will be subject to lay off/recall at different times throughout the year.
