Applications are invited for the position of Sensory Lab Coordinator in the Culinary, Tourism, and Beverage Studies (CTBS) Division, located at our Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus. The starting hourly rate is $34.60/hr (Pay Band G - $34.60/hr to $39.93/hr) for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary. This is an Appendix D, temporary position as per Article of the Support Staff Collective Agreement and is set to commence in March 2026 and will conclude in March It may be subject to an extension by mutual agreement of the parties.

Reporting to the Academic Operations Manager, Culinary, Tourism & Beverage Studies (CTBS), the Sensory Lab Coordinator is a key position that supports academic faculty and product support to the students in the Beverage and Culinary programs that utilize sensory labs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support faculty in the development of product lists aligned with budget parameters for all sensory courses, including pre-term preparation of lab manuals and required materials
  • Gather and maintain faculty product requisition lists for sensory courses, ensuring products are ordered, delivered, inventoried in a timely manner, and stored securely
  • Make product recommendations and determinations when availability issues arise to ensure course lesson plans and learning outcomes are met
  • Track requisitions across programs and courses to collaboratively identify duplications, overages, and opportunities for efficiencies in product supply and substitution
  • Provide financial guidance and support to faculty to ensure lab and course budgets (material fees) are met
  • Report weekly and term-total lab expenditures, and provide updates, recommendations, and solutions to improve course delivery and financial performance
  • Schedule the supply and delivery of products and related materials (e.g., glassware, setups) to sensory labs; provide setup support, lab monitoring, sanitization, cleanup, and restocking of beverages and materials
  • Provide support, as required, for internal and external CTBS events, including development, execution, recruitment, marketing, and industry-related activities
  • Work with internal and external partners to support and manage special events, fulfill product requests, and oversee contractual agreements between the college and third parties
  • Manage academic inventory and the distribution of all alcoholic beverages to labs in accordance with approved requisitions
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and sector developments, including new growers and production facilities, varietals, industry trends, and sales and marketing initiatives, and regularly share updates with the CTBS community
  • Represent CTBS by participating in beverage industry networking events
Qualifications:  
  • Three (3) year diploma and/or three-year undergraduate degree in the field of Science or Business
  • Minimum three (3) years sensory related experience in wine, beer, and/or spirits industry
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across projects and timelines
