The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing Powertech's portfolio of high-impact, strategic capital projects, typically ranging from $1M to $15M per project. This role holds end-to-end accountability for successful project delivery, ensuring alignment with Powertech's strategic goals, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder expectations. Success in this role is measured by on-time, cost-efficient project delivery, portfolio completion rate, stakeholder satisfaction, and risk management effectiveness.
Reporting to the Senior Business Strategy Advisor in the CEO's office and working closely with the Senior Director of Technical Services, this role is critical to advancing the company's strategic investments and long-term growth objectives.
• Project Management:  Actively manage 3–5 concurrent capital projects across multiple business units, advancing initiatives such as infrastructure modernization, facility expansion, and laboratory enhancement on Powertech's main campus. Drive project planning and governance, ensure disciplined documentation and execution, monitor performance against strategic objectives, and proactively implement corrective actions to maintain alignment with organizational priorities.
• Leadership: Collaborate with technical departments and functional teams to establish and lead cross‑functional project teams that include internal staff, external consultants, contractors, and suppliers. Oversee the execution of all project activities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and relevant industry standards.
• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders—including senior leadership, technical teams, procurement, facilities, finance, legal, compliance, vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies, and BC Hydro. Ensure alignment, provide timely updates, manage expectations, and resolve issues collaboratively and transparently.
• Change & Risk Management: Lead project change control processes, managing scope creep and guiding change requests through approval. Assess and mitigate the impact of approved changes on project objectives, resources, and overall risk profile. Proactively manage risks by identifying, evaluating, and implementing mitigation strategies, while ensuring timely communication to stakeholders.
• Supply Chain & Commercial Management: Partner with procurement and legal teams to develop effective supply chain strategies and establish commercial agreements with suppliers and contractors as required.
• Regulatory & Compliance: Enforce organizational and regulatory safety standards across all project activities. Secure required permits, drive inspections, and maintain all compliance documentation. Validate that projects meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
