Position Title: IT Governance Analyst
Location: Winnipeg, MB (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Overview
The IT Governance Analyst operationalizes "just enough" IT governance by running governance rhythms (forums, decisions, follow-ups) and managing a pragmatic lifecycle for IT policies, standards, and procedures. This role is adoption-first—focused on making governance easy to follow, measurable, and auditable when needed, without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, comfortable working across multiple IT domains, and capable of translating complex inputs into clear, usable guidance that improves execution consistency and decision transparency.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate governance forums and working sessions (e.g., prioritization/portfolio touchpoints, risk/compliance check-ins, architecture advisory reviews as required).
Build and maintain meeting packs (agenda, pre-reads, decision templates) and ensure readiness for decision-making.
Support governance cadence planning (weekly/monthly/quarterly) and ensure consistent execution.
Operate the end-to-end lifecycle for governance documents: intake, drafting support, review coordination, approval routing, publishing, and periodic review.
Ensure documents follow the corporate template (purpose, scope, requirements, roles/responsibilities, lifecycle, references, revision history).
Coordinate reviews with SMEs across domains (Security, Infrastructure, Applications/ERP, Data & Analytics, EA) to validate accuracy and usability.
Manage version control, review dates, deprecations, and supporting evidence (approvals, revision notes).
Run a lightweight exception process ("comply or explain") including request intake, rationale capture, approval tracking, and expiry monitoring.
Administer and continuously improve the IT Governance Hub (taxonomy, metadata, naming conventions, searchability, and publishing workflows).
Create enablement assets: checklists, quick guides, templates, and "how-to" content.
Support short enablement sessions for IT leaders and cross-domain SMEs to strengthen adoption.
Produce concise monthly/quarterly governance summaries: key decisions, open risks, exceptions, overdue actions, and items requiring leadership input.
Track adoption and compliance indicators (document coverage, review compliance, exceptions, decision cycle time).
Identify recurring friction points and recommend practical improvements.
Qualifications
3–7 years of relevant experience in IT governance, PMO, process management, compliance coordination, IT operations, or related roles.
Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills (influence without authority).
Excellent written communication: ability to convert complex inputs into clear, actionable standards and guidance.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Bachelor's degree.
A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Analysis, Information Technology, or a related discipline, is an asset.
Practical exposure to governance/controls frameworks (COBIT, ITIL, ISO/NIST) and/or working with policies/standards, are an asset.
Salary Range:
CAD 62,000–80,000 per year
