Job Description:

The Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) role is a vital part of the Department of Homeland Security workforce. As a CBPO, you will play a key role in safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing national economic prosperity.

• Enforcing customs laws and regulations to ensure compliance with U.S. trade agreements.


• Facilitating legitimate trade flow while preventing smuggling of contraband.


• Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility for entry into the United States.

CBPOs work at ports of entry along land borders between the U.S., Mexico, Canada; coastlines; airports; seaports; inland border checkpoints on highways leading from land-border crossings into the interior regions within these countries' territories as well as various patrol routes throughout both north-south directions following high-traffic volume sections across rivers/lakes where applicable.
The field agent performs assignments primarily independently sometimes working under direct supervision by more senior officials depending upon specific duties assigned;
