Position Summary
Part-Time Academic, new position
The School of Community Services is seeking qualified professionals to join the Animal Care team to teach part-time courses from May 2026 to August 2026, and/or September 2026 to December 2026 to Veterinary Technician and/or Veterinary Assistant students.

Veterinary Dentistry
Exotic Animal Medicine
Emergency and Critical Care Medicine
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., both in-person and online. Part-time Professors typically teach one to two courses. When time allows, Professors are afforded an opportunity to share their availability on a semester basis to determine course scheduling. Courses may be in person only, online only, or hybrid (mix of online and in person content), and are approximately two to six hours per week in the classroom for a 14-week term.

Responsibilities
Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field
Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students' cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
Qualifications
A two- or three-year diploma in Veterinary Technology, or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, is required
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinarian in Ontario in good standing, is required
Minimum of five years of experience required as an RVT or DVM
Experience in adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is preferred
Fear Free Certification and RECOVER Rescuer CPR Certification would be an asset
Experience with curriculum development is an asset
Experience with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred
Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation, is an asset
Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga's continuous quality improvement initiatives
Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
This position works with animals. The successful applicant will be required to provide proof of rabies vaccination and protective titre. Maintenance of a fully vaccinated status for rabies will be required.
Compensation is determined using a standardized wage calculation that considers education, relevant industry experience, and teaching experience. Part-Time Professors are paid an hourly rate based on Teaching Contact Hours (up to 6 hours per week). This rate is inclusive of all academic responsibilities, including course preparation, delivery, and evaluation. The posted hourly rate represents an estimated range.
