The Director, Business Development & Strategic Accounts is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for building and leading company's business development team while driving intentional, scalable growth within the company's most valuable and high-potential client relationships.
This role is designed for a strategic, commercially minded leader who excels at uncovering expansion opportunities within complex client organizations, structuring long-term growth plans, and aligning teams around priority segments and accounts. The focus extends beyond traditional net-new prospecting to include strategic account expansion, segment-led growth, and disciplined business development execution.
In addition to leading the Business Development function, this role serves as the strategic owner for designated national accounts, ensuring consistency, alignment, and growth across regions.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Growth & Expansion
Own the growth strategy for assigned strategic accounts, with clear accountability for expansion and share-of-wallet growth.
Develop and execute strategic account plans, including growth targets, relationship development, and expansion initiatives.
Lead regular business reviews with key clients to align on performance, future needs, and long-term partnership opportunities.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders by deeply understanding their business objectives, operating models, and growth priorities.
Lead discovery and growth conversations focused on experience enhancement, scalability, operational efficiency, and brand alignment.
Oversee the development of tailored proposals, presentations, and partnership recommendations.
Lead negotiations related to account expansion, renewals, and new agreements.
Ensure contracts and commercial terms are scalable, profitable, and aligned with operational capabilities.
Business Development Leadership
Lead and continuously evolve company's business development strategy in alignment with annual commercial priorities and growth targets.
Provide structure, direction, and coaching to the Business Development team to drive proactive, opportunity-led selling.
Establish and reinforce clear standards for prospecting, account ownership, pipeline management, and growth expectations.
Partner with Sales leadership to ensure BD efforts are aligned with regional and national revenue goals.
Prioritize BD focus on high-value opportunities with clear potential for repeatable, long-term revenue and strategic fit.
Shift the BD function from ad-hoc activity to a disciplined, scalable growth engine.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Operations and Product teams to ensure growth strategies are operationally executable.
Collaborate with Marketing on account-based initiatives, targeted campaigns, and case study development.
Work across divisions (furniture, premium drapery, tents & structures) to unlock cross-sell, bundled, and enterprise-level opportunities.
National Account Leadership
Serve as the senior strategic lead for designated national and multi-region accounts.
Ensure consistent account strategy, communication, and service standards across regions and business units.
Coordinate with Regional GMs, Sales, and Operations teams to deliver seamless execution.
Support senior leadership in negotiating and managing national and multi-region agreements.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
Define and track KPIs related to business development effectiveness, strategic account growth, and segment performance.
Maintain accurate pipeline and account reporting within CRM systems.
Provide regular performance updates, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Key Qualifications
Proven experience in senior business development, strategic sales, or enterprise account leadership roles.
Demonstrated success growing complex, multi-stakeholder accounts within B2B services, hospitality, events, or adjacent industries.
Strong people leadership skills with experience coaching and guiding BD or sales teams.
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insight into actionable, measurable growth plans.
Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and executive presentation skills.
Experience negotiating high-value and complex agreements.
Strong commercial acumen with comfort analyzing account performance, margin, and growth metrics.
Proficiency with CRM platforms, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office 365.
Willingness to travel and engage with clients and internal teams across regions.
The salary range for this role is $110,000-$120,000. All applications are reviewed by real people — we do not use AI or automated screening tools in our recruitment process.
