Introduction
Red Earth is currently seeking to appoint a motivated, and reliable Bookkeeper to join our growing team.
This role plays a key part in the success of the organisation and the strategic and operational efficiencies. The role works closely with all the Finance Manager and all Red Earth employees, suppliers, and our external accountants, to ensure timely and accurate information can be provided across all areas relating to finance and accounting.
We're looking for a capable, reliable bookkeeping contractor to support our finance function for up to 15 hours per week. This is a hands-on role that covers day to day processing and end of month tasks, and suits someone who enjoys working independently while being part of a small, busy team.
You'll need to be confident in Xero, comfortable managing end-of-month processing, and able to take ownership of your workload. The role requires someone who is diligent, accurate, and happy to roll up their sleeves.
Organisation Outline
We are a small social enterprise with 15 employees focused on connecting school students to First Nations culture in Australia. We do this by creating Immersion programs where students learn from Elders, visit cultural sites, and volunteer on a service project in the community. As we are a small organisation, all employees work closely with one another.
Role Outline
• Processing of financial transactions, mainly in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Banking
• Work within a team to ensure general ledger is accurate and, transactions are recorded within the correct periods and accounts
• Supporting end of month processes (reconciliations, journals, reporting support)
• Requirements to play a key role in data integrity for management, and reporting, including collating information and reports for internal stakeholders
• Work efficiently to build and develop an understanding of the technology platforms used within this role, including Xero, MS Dynamics, and the Microsoft O365 suite
• Manage and respond to the finance queries from Red Earth staff.
• Working with the Finance Manager to ensure all aspects of the accounts function are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
• Experience in XERO (Essential)
• Experience with end of month processing
• Proven experience in a similar role
• Competent in MS Office
Availability
• Up to 15 hours per week
• Must be available at least half business hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Melbourne time)
• Remaining hours can be worked flexibly/asynchronously
Contract duration of more than 6 months. with 30 hours per week.
