The job is pure cutting — no fancy graphics, transitions, or effects.
What I need is someone who can watch raw footage of me talking to camera and make sharp editorial decisions about what stays and what goes.
This means:
1) Removing redundancy — when I circle back to the same point twice, you keep the stronger version
2) Cutting excess context — knowing when I'm over-explaining something that the viewer already gets
3) Preserving the emotional arc — not just trimming for length, but shaping the message so it hits harder and holds attention
4) Understanding pacing and retention — every cut should serve the goal of keeping people watching
This is NOT basic editing like removing "ums" and dead air. That's table stakes. I need someone who can listen to a 10-minute raw clip and turn it into a 3-minute piece that lands better than the original because you understood what the actual message was and stripped away everything that diluted it.
Requirements:
Must own a MacBook with an M-series chip (M1 or higher) — this is non-negotiable. The raw footage is shot in high resolution and I need exports rendered and delivered at the same quality. No downscaling, no compression artifacts, no excuses about hardware limitations.
Ideal candidate:
Has experience editing talking-head or direct-to-camera content
Understands YouTube/Instagram retention principles
Can articulate WHY they made a cut, not just where
Fast turnaround, consistent quality
