Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage strong relationships with customers within the assigned territory through regular on-site visits, proactive communication, and a deep understanding of customer needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to farmers and contractors by understanding their operations, challenges, and long-term goals, and recommending appropriate equipment and solutions.
- Identify, prioritize, and pursue new business opportunities to grow market penetration and revenue within the territory.
- Prospect new customers through a variety of methods, including cold calling, face-to-face meetings, referrals, networking, and industry events.
- Maintain consistent monthly contact with customers to strengthen relationships, identify opportunities, and support customer retention.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Parts, Service, Administration, and Leadership) to resolve customer issues, remove barriers, and support successful deal closure.
- Actively manage assigned accounts, sales pipeline, opportunities, and forecasts using company sales tools, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and submit weekly sales activity and performance reports against established targets.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitor activity, and new product offerings, introducing new solutions to customers as appropriate.
- Take full ownership of assigned accounts, demonstrating strong self-motivation, accountability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, sales, agriculture, or a related technical field is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of agriculture, farming operations, and agronomic trends.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, qualify, and close sales both in person and over the phone.
- Minimum of three (3) years of machinery sales experience; agricultural or construction equipment sales experience is preferred.
- Proven ability to build new business while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory for customer and prospect visits.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
