Our challenge
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation testing with Java and Selenium, as well as expertise in SQL, API testing, and CI/CD processes. This role offers an opportunity to work on innovative projects within an agile environment, utilizing cutting-edge tools and methodologies.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Calgary, Alberta is CAD $85K - CAD $95K/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain automation test frameworks and components using Java and Selenium.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for backend validation.
Automate REST API testing and validate API responses.
Design, develop, and execute test scripts and test cases to ensure software quality.
Collaborate with developers and business analysts to understand requirements and test scenarios.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and deployment.
Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
Explore and implement new testing tools and methodologies to improve testing efficiency.
Document test plans, test cases, and defect reports accurately.
Requirements:
5-7 years of experience in QA automation with a strong focus on Java and Selenium.
Profound knowledge of SQL queries and database testing.
Hands-on experience with API automation testing (Rest API).
Strong understanding of test automation frameworks and scripting.
Exposure to Behavior Driven Development (BDD) tools such as Cucumber/Gherkin.
Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments.
Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred skills:
Knowledge of additional automation tools and frameworks.
Experience working in banking or financial domains.
Certifications related to QA automation or software testing.
