What You Get to Do: 

In this entry-level role, you'll support the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of measurement, automation, and communication systems used across ATCO Gas operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the installation, inspection, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, automation, and communication equipment
  • Supporting capital and operations & maintenance projects under the guidance of Senior Technologists and Team Lead
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and contributing to system design and "as-built" documentation
  • Performing worksite hazard assessments, quality assurance checks, and safety inspections
  • Coordinating with contractors and supporting field activities to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participating in safety meetings, tailgates, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintaining tools, instruments, vehicles, and equipment used in field operations
  • Traveling within the ATCO Gas service territory and supporting emergency or standby work as required, including stays out of town

What You Bring:

  • Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Telecommunications from an A.S.E.T. recognized two-year technology program
  • Eligibility for certification with A.S.E.T. as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
  • Foundational knowledge of measurement, automation, and RF communication systems
  • An understanding of higher-level IP networking and CCNA Cisco (or equivalent) learnings or experience would be an asset.
  • Understanding and experience with microprocessor and mechanical based measurement and control equipment.
  • Familiarity with computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • A commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous learning
  • Willingness to work outdoors, travel as required, and participate in shift or standby schedules
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; successful candidates will be required to meet pre-employment requirements. This includes background checks and testing in accordance with ATCO's policies.
