Dishwasher

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all china, silverware and cookware while ensuring that all kitchen equipment and surfaces are kept clean, sanitized and operational.  Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests and other staff members.  All duties are performed in the best interest of the guests, and in accordance with Chartwell's vision, mission and value statements.

• Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and/or pans using dishwasher or by hand
• Loads and empties dishwasher
• Places clean dishes, utensils and cooking equipment in appropriate storage areas
• Cleans and sanitizes dishwasher mats, dish carts and dish racks
• Maintains chemical/utility room clean and organize
• Maintains kitchen equipment and work areas (blenders, refrigerators, dishwashers, worktable surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills, exhaust hood, etc.) in a clean and orderly condition using proper chemical and cleaning methods to keep clean
• Cleans floors and walls in kitchen area, as well as drains 
• Empties and cleans all waste containers and transports garbage to designated area.
• May assist in receiving and stocking supplies/products
• Safely handles and stores all cleaning products as well as keeping control of inventory
• Performs cleaning duties according to established procedures
• Effectively communicates and interacts with guests and staff in a courteous and professional manner
• Responds to guest's questions/concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken with-in decision making authority and/or brings to the supervisor/FSM attention
• Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures.  Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and residents. Promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
• Assist in kitchen with pre work if needed
• Assist servers if keeping dining area clean and/or in delivery and cleanup of catering
• Assist in cleaning and re-stocking of refreshment stations
• Performs other related duties as required

Experience:

• Previous experience in the hospitality industry is considered an asset

Education:

• Completion of secondary school education or equivalent

Skills & Abilities:

• Work requires standing for extended periods of time, lifting and carrying objects of 40 lbs
• Must be able to operate related equipment
