Residential Conveyancing Assistant Bedford Hours - Monday to Friday Salary - £Competitive DOE A well-established and friendly legal practice is seeking a Residential Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join its busy Bedford office. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, enthusiastic individual to become part of a supportive residential property team with genuine long-term development prospects.The role would suit someone with conveyancing experience or a strong legal administrative background who is looking to progress within residential property law.The Role You will provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to fee earners, ensuring residential property matters run efficiently and clients receive a professional, responsive service.Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing general administrative support within the residential property team
  • Preparing and issuing client quotations
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients, solicitors, lenders, and estate agents
  • Providing regular client updates and monitoring matter progression
  • Opening and closing files on the case management system in line with AML, SRA, and CQS requirements
  • Assisting with freehold and leasehold conveyancing matters
  • Carrying out online searches and managing search results
  • Using the Land Registry portal to submit registrations, respond to requisitions, and obtain official copies, leases, and title plans
  • Preparing Stamp Duty Land Tax calculations and submitting applications
  • Preparing bills, receipts, and payments for submission to the finance team
  • Providing occasional reception cover when required
About You
  • Previous experience as a Conveyancing Assistant is preferred
  • Good understanding of the day-to-day operations of a legal office
  • Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of case management systems
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively under pressure
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Basic understanding of the residential conveyancing process
The Package
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:15 (1-hour lunch break)
  • Start: Immediate start available
