• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders through surveillance from covert positions.


• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration laws, inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.


• Maintain physical evidence, such as tracks, marks, or other signs indicating illegal entry into the country.
