Job Description Customs and Border Protection Officers are responsible for safeguarding the nation's economic prosperity, deterring illicit activity, and protecting the American people by enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws. They play a vital role in facilitating trade while preventing the entry of prohibited goods into the country.
Key responsibilities include conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances, determining admissibility for entry into the United States, detecting smuggled items such as drugs or contraband. The CBP Officer must possess strong law enforcement skills including rapid judgment-making decisions under pressure with precise knowledge on regulations regarding importing/exporting merchandise to/from U.S., foreign persons' rights to enter/reside/depart from selected jurisdictions (Guam/Puerto Rico/U.S.Virgin Islands), etc.
