Company Description
Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
Stations:
One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description
The PLC Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of programmable logic controller (PLC) and Siemens Simatic S7 systems and related electrical equipment in both above‑ground and underground environments. This role ensures all work complies with Canadian electrical and safety regulations, conducts inspections and testing to verify system integrity, and follows established environmental and safety procedures.
Working closely with tunneling and electrical teams, the PLC Electrician helps coordinate upcoming work, supports the development of safety plans, and maintains accurate documentation of electrical activities. A strong commitment to safe work practices and technical excellence is essential in ensuring reliable operation of PLC‑controlled systems across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PLC systems and related electrical equipment above and below ground.
Interpret electrical plans, schematics, and work schedules to perform assigned tasks.
Ensure necessary materials, tools, and test equipment are prepared and available.
Inspect and test electrical and PLC work to ensure it meets codes, standards, and project specifications.
Perform authorized work on PLC control systems, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
Collaborate with troubleshooting in electronic signals to carry on with the tunnel operation, identify faults, lack of signals and report to the engineer in charge about the deepness of the fault.
Ensure that no unauthorized bypasses or system bridges are created within electronic systems, and only implement such actions with explicit senior management approval.
Follow all safety procedures and regulations while working on electrical and control systems.
Implement safe work practices including lockout/tagout and hazard control measures.
Work in accordance with the project's Environmental Management Plan.
Ensure all PLC and electrical installations meet current Canadian safety regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate electrical hazards.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety and promote a proactive safety culture.
Collaborate with tunneling and electrical teams to coordinate upcoming work and contribute to Work Site Safety Plans (WSSPs).
Communicate effectively with electrical personnel to ensure understanding of work procedures and hazards.
Complete daily reports and documentation related to electrical tasks, inspections, maintenance, and testing.
Maintain and organize all relevant electrical documentation, including diagrams, PLC updates, and maintenance logs.
Qualifications
Diploma or Certificate in an Electrical Trades Program.
Bachelor's Degree in a Construction Management program or relevant field is an asset.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a PLC Electrician, preferably with experience in underground construction projects.
Experience and knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards for tunnel construction equipment.
In-depth understanding of Canadian electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards for tunnel construction equipment.
Proven ability to develop and implement effective maintenance programs for complex electrical systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and management.
Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and complete electrical documentation.
Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) principles, actively promoting a safe work culture.
