HOURS OF WORK:
The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Provides senior professional leadership and subject matter expertise for Security Services by overseeing third-party security operations, driving quality improvement and training, advising on risk mitigation, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure organization-wide safety, compliance, and risk mitigation. Leads and maintains the integrity, consistency, and readiness of the organization's Emergency Preparedness frameworks, standards, and tools, by contributing to enterprise governance and planning, establishing consistency, integration, and alignment across departments and programs, designing and evaluating organization-wide drills and training, overseeing emergency systems and documentation, and supporting operational response during codes and incidents. Delivers special projects and operational support by conducting security footage reviews, providing expert advice to leaders and teams on workplace safety enhancements, and supporting access control and restraint-related processes to reduce risk, strengthen enterprise-wide preparedness, and promote organizational safety for staff, patients, and visitors.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Five (5) years recent experience in the health care maintenance/operations sector, experience working in security within a healthcare setting.
CPP (certified protection professional) certificate or International Association of Healthcare Security Services (IAHSS) certificate
Emergency Management Training Certification, Certification and/or Equivalent experience/knowledge with Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Codes in Ontario; Healthcare Disaster Planning and Recovery.
Law/security training (i.e. police foundations, law enforcement, etc.)
Emergency first aid.
WHO YOU ARE:
Ability to interpret and apply use-of-force theory and principles, escalation and de-escalation models, applicable to organizational security and safety contexts.
Familiarity with the regulations under the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and the Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA)
Demonstrated trauma-informed, equity- and inclusion-informed practices when working with diverse patient, staff, and community populations.
Familiarity with Trespass to Property Act
Familiarity with the Mental Health Act
General knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Labour Regulations, CSA Standards, Ontario Building Code and Fire Code.
Strong team building skills to achieve organizational goals; communicates with and motivates a team to achieve results.
