Role Description
This is a hybrid full-time-part-time or contract role located in Vancouver, BC, for an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will oversee tax, accounting and financial operations for less time sensitive holding companies, including reviewing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant authorities, regulatory and corporate reporting standards. The role requires coordinating management prepared financial statements, preparing Canadian and US tax filings, some analyzing of financial data, and supporting senior management in decision-making and compliance processes. Collaboration with the finance team to improve systems and processes is a nice to have. Experience with US blocker corporations and fund accounting is a key consideration.
Qualifications
Strong accounting and financial reporting skills, with a solid understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance
Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and preparation of tax filings
Proficiency in financial systems, including accounting software and Excel
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective team collaboration and communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation is a strong asset
Previous experience in private capital, financial services, or a related industry is a plus
Demonstrated ability to improve financial processes and systems
