À propos
Current content niches/categories include documentary, reality TV, sports compilations, history, ancient mysteries, Hollywood blockbusters, cinematic horror, and more. Each channel has its own distinct visual identity, and we need designers with real range.
We seek designers who value collaboration, but are comfortable with taking initiative and working independently; you will often receive ONLY a video title, script, and rough cut, and will be responsible for determining who/what should appear on the thumbnail, the visual framing, and the on-image headline/copy. You'll iterate new versions based on CTR performance, adapt quickly when trends shift, and help shape the packaging for every video.
We're looking for designers who enjoy experimenting, collaborate well with creative teams, and get excited about trying new styles as opportunities come our way — from working with other YouTube creators to supporting filmmaker releases to developing original series and brand partnerships.
This role requires deep familiarity with YouTube visual trends and a proven ability to not only replicate, but elevate the styles that drive CTR. References and growth metrics from your work with other clients/channels will be requested.
Expect to design 30-60 thumbnails per month (including minor iterations) at varying levels of quality/difficulty, depending on the production pipeline for each channel.
This gig is a great fit for designers who want consistent work, variety, and a long-term partnership within a growing entertainment studio.
TO APPLY:
Since initiative and creative judgment are critical in this role, we are holding a HIRING CHALLENGE designed to mimic the real workflow designers may encounter at RTE.
Round 1 will focus on a single channel/thumbnail, enabling us to evaluate your instincts, style interpretation, and CTR-driven design thinking.
The top 10 candidates will move onto Round 2, repeating the same process for 2 different channels in completely different design styles, with compensation for all sample thumbnails paid via Upwork.
HIRING CHALLENGE:
Using the attached Design References as a style guide, create a (watermarked) thumbnail for any of the 10 videos on this channel that were released in 2026:
You must decide independently:
1) Which subject(s) to feature.
2) The context
3) The headline/copy
- DON'T use a headline that could be construed as mean, hateful, derogatory, salacious, or unduly disrespectful.
- DO choose a compelling headline that creates instant curiosity, and evokes another emotional response. For example: inspiring, shocking, cheeky, mysterious, celebratory, humorous, provocative, snarky, WTF.
Judging Criteria:
* Initiative + Accuracy: as reflected in your choice of imagery, context, and headline.
* CTR-Minded Choices: taking the video title into consideration, telling a compelling visual story that generates both immediate understanding of the video topic, and unbridled curiosity. Clearly reflects its niche within the YT ecosystem, yet stands out.
* Iterate + Elevate: displaying a clear understanding of the design references/guidance provided, yet reflecting a superior quality, a strong POV, and a bold/fresh take on a relatively simple concept.
Good luck We can't wait to see what you create.
Contract duration of 3 to 6 months.
Mandatory skills: Graphic Design, Adobe Photoshop, YouTube Thumbnail, Initiative, Independent Thinking, YouTube, Thumbnail, Custom Graphics
