As a Community Support Worker within e4c's long term supported housing programs, your role is pivotal in providing stability, recovery, and support to individuals striving for a better life. You work closely with residents who require enhanced levels of housing support due to past traumas, mental health issues, and addiction struggles. Reporting to the Site Manager, your primary responsibility is to support the team in ensuring that the program meets the unique needs of residents while adhering to agency and funder requirements.
Operating on the principle of "one day at a time," our long term supported housing programs follow a daily cycle, emphasizing a community-based approach to recovery. With a focus on reciprocity, relationships, and wellness, the program provides wraparound team staffing, including clinical support.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with staff members and residents to facilitate learning opportunities on wellness best practices.
Collaborate with staff members to model positive neighbor relations within the community.
Maintain all documentation and ensure appropriate file management procedures are followed.
Build and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders, serving as a point of contact during evening hours.
Assist in meal preparation and household maintenance.
Collaborate with staff members and residents to plan menus, ensuring alignment with preferences and nutritional guidelines.
Organize integrated activities, events, and relationship-building efforts with other e4c programs to foster community for both staff and residents.
Identify partnership opportunities to support community programming and volunteer initiatives.
Support the Site Manager with administrative tasks and reporting.
What You Bring To The Team
Diploma or degree in Human Services, Education, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of related experience in direct service roles.
Skilled in relationship-based and trauma-informed practice.
Knowledge of inner city, homelessness, poverty, mental health, addiction, prostitution, abuse, and multicultural issues.
Ability to teach and model life skills and wellness strategies.
Strong interpersonal communication, crisis management, and conflict resolution skills.
Personal lived experience of addictions, mental illness, racism, discrimination, and poverty is an asset.
